Summit Beer Dinner

Summit is holding a beer dinner at Amsterdam Bar & Hall in St. Paul. The meal will feature some items from the Amsterdam menu as well as some broodjes prepared especially for the evening.

NYE at Ngon

Once again, Hai over at Ngon Bistro has lined up quite the tasting menu for New Years Eve for only $40.

First Course: Coconut Cream & Acorn Squash Soup, candied walnuts and house-cured bacon
Second Course: House Cured Lamb Belly & Daikon Cake, local greens in a wasabi sauce
Third Course: Wild rice crusted Star Prairie Trout & oyster mushrooms with a spicy quava mint sauce
Fourth Course: Five spice Braised Fischer Farms Pork Shank with sweet potatoes & pickled greens

For an extra charge, your meal can be paired with your choice of wine ($20) or beer ($15)–but given that they’ll be tapping Surly Darkness, Surly Five & a firkin of Lift Bridge Farm Girl with Asian plums, I’d opt for the beer.

First Course

Opah and Rock Shrimp Ceviche

Red onion, serrano chili, cucumber, cilantro, fresh orange, yuzu juice.

Second Course

Caramel Apple

Slow-cooked pork cheek, miso-caramel sauce, granny smith apple-chive salad, rice vinegar dressing.

Served with Goose Island Matilda

Third Course

Duck, Duck, Goose…Island

Sichuan pepper crusted breast, duck & foie gras xiao long bao (soup dumpling)

miniature bok choy, oyster mushroom, carrots, black cardamom jus.

Served with Goose Island Pepe Nero

Fourth Course

Chocoflan

Hazelnut cajeta (goat milk caramel), pepita & maria cookie streusel, ripe bananna ice cream.

Served with 2008 Goose Island Bourbon County Stout.
