Barleywine Tasting at Heritage

After a week off for Thanksgiving the crew at Heritage brings back tastings with a bang with barleywines. “Some are sweet, some are bitter, but they’re all huge and called barleywines because they can be as strong as wine. But since it is made from grain rather than fruit, it is, in fact, a beer, usually having an earthy hoppiness balanced by a toffee-like sweetness. Rock Bottom Tapping Schedule

Here’s the Rock Bottom tapping schedule for the next few weeks.

Dec 2–Anniversary IPA. Celebrate 17 years of brewing at Rock Bottom with the 17th Anniversary IPA.

Dec 23–Belgian Triple. The 2nd Release in the Belgian Trifecta series. Please note the date change.

Jan 13–Fallen Angel Abbey Ale. The 3rd and final release in the Belgian Trifecta series.

Modern Monk Dubbel is the first release in the Trifecta series and is still on tap. The Fallen Angel will have a new release date when it’s ready!

Fitty’s First Friday

Head on over to Thomas Liquors this Friday for this month’s installment of Fitty’s First Friday, Bell’s Big-ass Beers. (So FFF=BBB, right?)

Fitty welcomes Jason Gillum from Bell’s to the store as they delve into, well, some of Bell’s big-ass beers. Confirmed so far: Expedition Stout, Third Coast Old Ale, Double Cream Stout & more.

Winterfest 2011!

Unnecessary exclamation point? No, because Winterfest ain’t your average beer fest!

Members of the Minnesota Craft Brewer’s Guild are the “only” brewers and brew pubs present, serving you their finest wares with tasty treats and live music. Winterfest returns to fave site, Minnesota History Center, on Friday, Feb. 4, 2011 from 7pm – 10pm. Tickets are $50, go on sale Wed. Dec 1 at noon and tend to sell out pretty quickly.
