Great Twin Ports Taste Together with Dropkick Murphys

We sort of missed the boat this year on this festival. By “sort of” I mean that it looks as if the regular tickets are all sold out, but there are still some hotel package options available as I write this, so without further ado…

Killer beer and an awesome band? Check! The Great Twin Ports Taste Together features four hours of great local and national breweries and wineries from the Duluth Superior area and beyond. Brewfest tickets also include free access to a concert by The Dropkick Murphys. Win-win. Music starts at 8:30pm.

Lift Bridge SilhouetteLift Bridge’s latest, Silhouette, a Russian Imperial Stout will be released at the brewery on Saturday, February 9th. Fulton Libertine Aged in 2 Gingers Whiskey Barrels Thursday at the Taproom

Perhaps you’ve seen the oak barrels hanging out over at Fulton’s brewery… Curious to see… or rather taste what’s inside? Here’s your chance. Fulton’s Libertine has been aging in these oak barrels from 2 Gingers, and they report that Libertine, oak and whiskey have “mellowed into a marriage of flavors that’s nothing short of sublime.”

Thursday is your chance to sample said beer in the taproom. Pricing will be $5 for a 10 oz pour. No growlers or bottles due to the limited size of the brew.

If you’re not able to  make it on Thursday, they’ll be doing several more draft releases over the next couple weeks at bars & restaurants around the metro area. Keep your eyes on Fulton’s Facebook and Twitter feeds for details.

Surly Mild Release at the Blue Nile

The Blue Nile and Surly beer go hand in hand. So mark your calendar for the upcoming release of this year’s batch of Mild and join in the celebration.

It’s time for Mild to land on anticipating tastebuds, and the Blue Nile is happy to host the annual launch. In addition to that, the date the occasion falls upon also happens to commemorate seven years to the day since we first tapped a keg of Surly (which was the first week they debuted). We know the official anniversary beer won’t be out for Todd-only-knows how long, but we’re making our own party. At least eight Surlys will be on tap: Mild, Abrasive, Syx, Smoke, Darkness, Furious, Bender, and Cynic. There may be more, and we’ll let you know when we do!

6pm until whenever. There will be sample sets available, so you can get your fill without needing to turn in your car keys.

see you there,
