Schell’s Bockfest 2007

From Schell’s website:

All ages are welcome! We wait all year for this event…one visit and you’ll see why. This is one of our most popular festivals where we brave the cold winds of Old Man Winter and turn our brewery grounds into a celebration of music, food, and of course Bock beer.

  • The Bock Fest Boys will keep us entertained with their raucous brand of “Oom pah” music and humor.
  • Our venerable president and brewmaster Ted Marti will slip out the night before and secretly hide Bock cutouts in the woods for our traditional Bock Hunt….prizes galore await the lucky few who find them.
  • The bonfires will be stoked to keep the chill away….and it wouldn’t be the same without a red-hot iron to poke your Bock beer.
  • The grills will be fired up to serve bratwurst and other tasty foods.
  • The museum and gift shop will be open for visitors.

Come join the fun and festivities, then stay for the New Ulm Fasching celebrations later that evening.

MINNEAPOLIS—(September 26, 2006)—Maureen Ogle, author and historian, will discuss her book “Ambitious Brew: The Story of American Beer” on October 27 at 2:00 p.m. at the University of Minnesota Bookstore at Coffman Memorial Union, 300 Washington Ave. S.E. Minneapolis.

Ogle recounts the exciting and adventurous history of the founding fathers of American beer and their path to becoming corporate giants. From humble beginnings, Ogle shows how German immigrants with a knack for business and a fond nostalgia for their “beirgartens” persevered through temperance, Prohibition, and anti-German sentiments to make beer America’s national drink. “Ambitious Brew” examines how the impact of marketing innovations, advertising and packaging set the stage for the emergence of new microbrews and the next step in American beer enterprise.

Ogle will sign copies of her book following the discussion. This event is free and open to the public. For more information, or to order a signed copy visit www.bookstore.umn.edu/genref/authors.html.
