Rush River Firkin at Brasa

Rush River will be at Brasa in St. Paul with their final firkin of Lyndale Brown Ale that was infused with Pomegranate Green Tea. Since I can’t say it any better, in their own words, “Killer beer meets killer food. Be there.”

Regarding that “killer food”, Brasa will be pairing the beer with Five Spice Pork Belly, Citrus Cabbage Salad and Chaulafan Fried Rice.

Millstream Coming to MN

Another brewery is making the jump over the state line to get their beer into the hands and mouths of thirsty Minnesotans. Millstream Brewery, out of Amana, Iowa has sent their first load of bottles and kegs north (go ahead and air your favorite Iowa-bashing jokes but note that their John’s White Ale did just pick up a Gold Medal in the Witbiers category at the Denver International Beer Competition). Check their website in the coming days to see where you’ll be able to pick it up at.

If you’re unfamiliar with Millstream but are looking for a weekend road trip idea, they have a BrewBQ and the Blues event this coming Saturday, June 4 and a Beer & Brat Festival June 25. Again, check their website for all the details.

Summit 25th Anniversary Beer

Summit Silver AnniversarySummit celebrates 25 years of beer this year. Many of us have fond memories of our first Summit… For me, that was likely sometime around ’94 when I cracked open a 6-pack box of Extra Pale Ale and enjoyed what had to be one of the hoppiest beers I’d ever tasted. (Of course in college and younger Busch & Budweiser were a bit more readily available.)

In any case, what better way to celebrate 25 years with a special release? Summit’s Silver Anniversary beer is an assertively hopped version of their flagship EPA. The beer will be brewed with 2 row and crystal malts, American ale yeast and Citra, Centennial and Cascade hops and weighs in at 6.5% abv and 80 IBUs. I’m looking forward to trying this… and forward to another 25 years of Summit. Congrats guys!

Release dates to come. As always, watch this space!
