More Fermenters for Barley John’s

It looks like Barley John’s is expanding, at least in terms of the number of fermenters, although I don’t know where they’re going to find room for them on their concrete oasis. The fermenters are crated and making their journey from Soldonta, AK to Seattle, hopefully arriving in MN for an end of May installation. Yeah, more beer!

Awesome news. Not sure where they’ll find space for them either. Things are crazy packed downstairs.

What Ben said… I’m sure they’ll figure it out somehow. 🙂

Great news, I go much less because all they have for brewhouse beers seem to be Old 8, Little Barley Bitter and Dark Knight Returns. Just getting a little tired of them. Great beer, with a very small setup.

They have 4 seasonals on right now. Stop in.

Hopefully the new fermenters will have enough space to store a bit of their overflowing ego as well.

Barley Johns? Ego? They’ve never really struck me as anything but humble.

I’ve never know John or Colin to be anything but humble. Always been nice cool guys to hang out, enjoy a beer and chat with.

Come to think of it, really everyone that works there…

True. Been out to the bar with a number of them in the past. Always a fun group. Never seen anything that would suggest inflated egos.

I think Stu is trolling, it is fishing opener. Who else would do that?

I know this isn’t the place to vent, but I’ll never be going back to Barley John’s. Terrible experience. I’ll try to keep this short, but the only time I’ve been there I got terrible service. It was 1PM on Saturday, and as soon as we walked in the doors the locals at the bar said “Who are these guys?” “What are THEY doing here?”. We were seated and I explained that I had two more people coming and asked if we could pull the table next to us over so they could sit with us. Our server said “Nope, we’ve got a ton of reservations this afternoon”. Really, at 1PM? I asked if we could sit on the patio then, because I saw two people sitting there when we entered the place. The server said “Nope, the patio’s closed”. There clearly was a vibe exhibited by both the customers and servers that we weren’t welcome. And, as we dined (and the food and beer was indeed tasty) NO ONE (customers) came in. All but two of the tables were empty when we left an hour later.

I really wanted to give the place a chance, as I had heard nothing but good things about them, but I was frankly shocked at the overwhelmingly elitist attitude on display that day.

Sorry to vent, but I felt like I needed to back up my comment above.
