Wild Cask at Barley John’s

Barley John’s is upping their Wednesday cask beer game this week with a “wild” version.

Mark your calendars now – this Wednesday around 4pm we will be tapping a cask of Saison Brunette – our first WILD Wild Brunette. I kept 5 gallons of the wort last time the beer was brewed, fermented it with a French Saison Yeast as well as Brettanomyces bruxellensis. It has been aging for nearly 7 weeks in the cask now, so it should have some great bretty-funk to it. This one is going to go fast, folks!

Limited Edition DWITT Poster Event

It’s art for beer’s sake! Join the crew at Northern Brewer Minneapolis this Sunday (April 15th from 11-4pm) as they honor one of their most popular homebrew beer kits, Dead Ringer IPA.

NB has teamed up with acclaimed poster artist DWITT to create this badass poster for a most badass beer. DWITT is known locally in the beer scene for his work with Surly, Summit, and Flat Earth Brewing Companies.

There are only 50 of these posters available! Printed on hop green paper with beautifully illustrated hops, vines, skeletons, and hazy smoke. Signed and editioned by the man himself, they’re selling for a mere $35. $10 off if you buy a Dead Ringer beer kit.

Steel Toe Lunker Release Friday (4/13)

Steel Toe Brewing is set to release their Barleywine, Lunker tomorrow at 5:30 at the brewery. Lunker is a 14.4% English Barleywine aged in Templeton Rye Whiskey barrels. As the story goes, the whiskey produced in Templeton, IA was said to be Al Capone’s favorite spirit. You can read more about the distillery and the rye produced in Templeton over at Heavy Table.

Lunker was aged in Templeton barrels for 5+ months. If you had a chance to try this during The Beer Dabbler Showcase at the Winter Carnival, you’ll find this to be a different beer, thanks to time and barrel aging. And at 14+%, this is a beer you can age should you choose to do so.

Four bottle limit, $20/bottle (tax included). Cash or credit card.

No tours or Lunker samples Friday. Enjoy!

Muddy Pig’s 1000th Beer: Summit 103

Mark your calendars for Saturday, May 19th from 12-3. The Muddy Pig will tap their 1000th beer that day. What will it be, you ask? A special beer from Summit Brewing Co., 103, brewed especially for the occasion. Details for the beer are still in the works, but we know that it’ll include 10 malts and 10 hops. It’ll only be available at the Muddy Pig, and only ’til it runs out. One can only guess that it will be brewed on Summit’s new pilot brewery.

Congrats to the The Muddy Pig on serving 1000 different beers over the course of their 10 years. Cheers!
