Beerthday Party at Blue Nile

Can you believe another year has passed and it’s time to celebrate Al’s birthday again? Besides being a great bartender, he’s giving US gifts for his birthday. Check out the details.

Hey Gang,
Guess what? I’m throwing a party on my birthday again this year, and you’re getting the gift of some awesome beers on tap, some for the first time ever.

Aventinus Eisbock 2004. That’s right, the iced version of the amazing Schneider Aventinus Weizenbock, aged 5 years. This has never been on tap anywhere in MN, ever. I can’t wait to taste this one! It’s a 5 gallon keg, so come early if you want some!

Next, one of my favorite Baltic Porters of all time, from Finland, Sinebrychoff Porter. This is the first time it’s been available in kegs, and we will be the first place to tap it in the state!

And, I’m bringing out a keg of Bell’s Expedition. This one is not aged a year, unfortunately, only 8 months!
And, possibly some other special things, to remain secret.
And, a cask from Surly, no word on which one, yet.

The special beers will start flowing at 6pm. Hope to see you at the Blue Nile, Tuesday, June 30!

Update: The cask of Surly will be tea-bagged Furious.

Dome Dilemma

If you’re going to the Dome for a Twins game, or some other reason, you’ve probably encountered the dilemma of how you’re going to survive amongst all those macros. Summit comes to your rescue with a handy dandy listing of all the places in the Dome where you can find them:
– All Papa John’s stations (sections 119, 204, 224)
– Sections 140, 207, 212, 229

Vine Park Update

Heat stroke has struck us. Now in the cooler are four varieties of our all-grain beer in Growlers, so come on down & grab them while you can.

Helles Bock – a light colored full flavored session lager from Munich

Black Bavarian – black, smooth, and chocolate goodness

Bitter Electrician – traditional British style IPA with a true bite to it

Bavarian Hefeweizen – cloudy, pale, and redolent with the aromas of banana & clove.

I hope you have four growlers, because you’ll want them all. Remember, we do accept old Surly growler (up to two per customer) in exchange for ours.

Tuesday Growlers

Well, you’ve made it through Monday and by the time growler sales start this afternoon at Flat Earth, you’ll be nearly halfway through the week.

Tonight’s selections:
Belgian Pale Ale
Black Helicopter Coffee Stout
Element 115 Lager
Unfiltered 115
Hep Cat Ale (in case you didn’t make it to the Twin Cities Jazz Fest over the weekend, here’s your opportunity to try this Blond Ale)
Northwest Passage IPA
Sunburst Apricot Ale

Indulge Winners

Congrats to Lift Bridge for taking the Best Beer title at last Saturday’s Indulge event with their newest brew, Minnesota Tan! For those that haven’t tried it yet, it’s made with lingonberries and is a refreshing treat for the warm (ok, HOT) weather that is now upon us.

Keeping the honors within the state were John Henry from Cold Spring and Scotch Ale from Brau Brothers who tied for second.
