Growler Wednesday at Barley John’s

Barley John’s is switching up their Wednesday game plan for the rest of February starting today. Cask Wednesday is transitioning to Growler Wednesday. All day long you can get $2 off selected growler fills by buying a pint (limit one per person). Cask lovers need not worry as this is only a temporary change and casks will be returning in March.

Brewing TV #38: None More Cask

Cask ale at home!? Mike and Jake from Brewing TV take what they learned about cask-conditioning ales from Damian McConn (Summit Brewing Company) and use it to make their own cask version of a Oatmeal Stout. Join the guys as they learn the steps to a great firkinfied homebrew, get jiggy with double espresso shots, and drink the finished cask ale with some work buddies. You’ll find there’s None More Cask. Blam!

Muddy Pig News – New Beer Engine and events

Two beer events (and a Scotch one) from Mark at the Pig:

Wednesday, March 18. Opening of the Muddy Pig Firkin Fest. We will be tapping a firkin of Bell’s Porter at 5:00. This is the official introduction of our new beer engine, so stop in and enjoy a pint of hangover cure.

Monday, March 30. BenRaich Scotch whiskey tasting – $20. The latest in our ongoing series of spirit tastings with Allistair Walker of BenRaich who will discuss the history of the distillery and provide samples of 7 of their wonderful whiskeys. History, tasting and food for just $20 per person. Tickets available at The Pig and, as always, we suggest you purchase yours early as the event will likely sell out.

Tuesday, March 31. Unibroue beer tasting – $20. The best thing to come out of Canada since hockey is the beer of Unibroue, producer of such Pig favorites as Le Fin du Monde, Trois Pistoles and Blanche de Chambly. Mark Proell of Unibroue will be here to talk about Belgian-style beers, the history of Unibroue and sample out lots of beer. Beer, food and discussion for $20 per person. Yup, tickets now available here at The Pig and also Thomas Liquors on Grand Ave.
