Casks of Lake Superior Special Ale @ the Happy Gnome

Dammit… more good beer to drink… Lake Superior Special Ale is one of my favorite LS offerings and it’s cask-conditioned as well. Yum. Happy Gnome. Anybody planning on attending? I’ll be at this until about 9, but might just want to relax and have a beer after all of my hard work photographing canoers and kayakers at Lake Calhoun…

Starting at 7pm, we will be tapping two firkins of Lake Superior Special Ale on Thursday July 26th. Lake Superior made one firkin with Kent Golding hops, and one with Cascade hops.

We will be featuring Jolly Pumpkin Artisinal Ales for the month of August. We will kick-off the month by tapping a firkin of Calabaza Blanca on Thursday Aug 2nd. Jolly Pumpkin is an ultra small brewery in Dexter, MI. All of their beers are aged in oak barrels and then bottle conditioned. Muddy Pig 5 Year Anniversary Party

I’m taking advantage of the free wifi at the cabin to give you a couple of updates… the first, Muddy Pig’s five year anniversary sounds like a blast. Unfortunately, I’ll be rolling back into the city that night, so I doubt I’ll make it… enjoy!

I know it sounds crazy but Paul and I opened the doors five years ago and it’s time to celebrate. This Saturday, June 30 all tap beers at The Muddy Pig will be half price (I never thought I would have to say this in the bar business but…) while supplies last. Yup, from open to close, all 32 tap beers including Summit, DT, Surly and even Miller Lite will be half price. Our way of saying thank you for five years of support. But please, let’s all be responsible and plan on taking a taxi home that day. I do.

See ya’ll Saturday,

Mark
