Olde World Renaissance Fair: Interesting Beer and Wine… Geeks in Costume…

Lords and ladies… um… I’m not really the medieval type, but the Olde World Renaissance Fair sounds interesting if nothing for a cask of something special from Lake Superior and meads and wines from J Bird Winery. This Saturday and Sunday, Twig, Minnesota.

The Olde World Renaissance Fair will be held Saturday and Sunday, June 9 – 10, 2007, from 10:00 am – 7:00 pm both days. Ale Stars may be interested to know that Lake Superior Brewing is the beer sponsor of the event, and will be serving our beer and root beer there. Among our beer offerings will be our Stout, Kolsch, a “brewer’s choice” and also “Brikenhar Ale” brewed specially for the event. There will be just one cask of this, so it may sell out on Saturday. We will also be serving meads and fruit wines from the J. Bird Winery from Cambridge, MN. This is one of Minnesota’s oldest wineries. Last year, they provided a traditional mead, an “Eqyptian mead” flavored with hibiscus, and some fruit wines.

Info at www.owrenaissancefaire.com. Tickets are $9.00 per day. $1 off for advance purchase, or $1 off at the door if you’re in medieval costume. More info on their website, along with maps and directions.
Last year’s event was a lot of fun, looks like even more entertainment this year.

Schell Hospitality Complex Grand Opening

New Museum of Brewing, Gift Shop and Tap Room! Free Tours and Live Music!

Dear Friends of Schell’s Brewery;

After a long and somewhat challenging process, we are proud to say our new Hospitality Complex has been completed!

The Grand Opening of the new facility will be on Saturday, May 19, 2007 from 11 am until 5 pm.

We invite you to come and experience Schell’s Brewing Company’s past in the greatly expanded Museum of Brewing. Our beautiful new gift shop has tripled in size, with more room for all of the great items Schell’s, along with the Grain Belt line, has to offer. The new Rathskeller or Tap Room, designed with its awesome curved ceilings and wonderful “Old World feel” will also be opened for limited samplings. Free tours will be offered throughout the day. They will be more extensive than we usually have, and will be showing various parts of the brewery that are not normally open to the public .

During the day, music will be performed by local musicians, playing intermittently in the Garden for visitor’s enjoyment.

We so look forward to “showing off” our beautiful new building–and invite you to come and enjoy New Ulm “Gemutlichkeit” (hospitality and friendship) with the beautiful Schell’s Park, Gardens and new Hospitality Complex as the setting!

We hope to see you there.

Sincerely,

AUGUST SCHELL BREWING COMPANY
