Town Hall Brewery News

Here’s a little news from Mike and the crew at Town Hall:

Hey All,
I’ve got some great news! We are getting a bunch more tanks….the bad news is that they won’t be installed for a while. What does this mean you ask? I’ll be frank – We are currently unable to keep up with demand (Thanks to all of you for that…you’re awesome!) and until those tanks are installed that will be the case. In attempt to stop running out of house regular beers like IPA, we will soon be serving just two seasonal beers rather than three. With the open line that is created we will offer additional guest beer offerings. Our intent with that open line is to feature other fine beers that are brewed in Minnesota, we look forward to sharing our tapline with our Minnesota brothers/sisters in brewing.

Jane has left her post behind our bar but wishes to invite you all down for beer this coming Sunday, May, 6 @ 7pm.

Join the Great American Beer Tour. During American Craft Beer Week May 14-20 you can win valuable prizes just for going to your local brewery. Stop in, earn points, win stuff, pretty cool. Check out further details at www.AmericanCraftBeerWeek.org.

Thanks for the continued support-
Mike

Gose at Herkimer

Never heard of Gose? You’re not alone… it’s not a terribly common type of beer, though rumor has it that Dave at the Herkimer brewed some up and it’s quite tasty.

Gose is an oddball style of North German ale that is sort of a cross between a Belgian Wit and a Berliner Weisse. It’s brewed with 1/2 wheat malt, spicedwith coriander. The fermentation is via ale yeast spiked with lactobacillus, so the beer has a definite tartness to it. Lastly, an addition of sea salt gives it a nice roundness and an interesting if slight saltiness. We’re serving it in a voluptuous 23 oz Weizen glass. Come check it out.

Barley John’s Maibock Release

It’s May and Barley John’s is rolling out the Maibock…

We will be celebrating the first day of May with the release of our annual Maibock. This Tuesday enjoy $2 glasses of Maibock from 4-8pm. The kitchen will also be conjuring up some German menu fare to go along with the release. Our outdoor patio is now open, so come on up and enjoy a glass of Maibock this Tuesday! (**note: there will be no cask this week due to the Maibock release party)

Maibock (8%abv): This traditional German lager is brewed back in Febuary to give it an appropriate amount of time to age – it is one of 3 lagers that we do every year because of the aging time. We brewed this beer in the traditional double decoction brewing style that releases a multitude of malty flavors characteristic of the style. A fiery orangish hue from the use of German Munich malt and hopped with German Hallertau. We cold lagered this beer for 4 months to allow the flavors to come together, it was well worth the wait!
