Enter Byggvir’s Big Beer Cup!
There’s still a little time to submit beer, mead and cider for this years Biggvir’s Big Beer Cup homebrew competition at the Minnesota Renaissance Festival! Read on for details from Gera. Of note, this year the best beer of the contest will be brewed by Mike Hoops at Minneapolis Town Hall Brewery!
There is still time to enter your beers, meads, and ciders in Byggvir’s Big Beer Cup. We are accepting entries until store closing times on Sunday, August 12th at both Northern Brewers, Midwest, Brew & Grow, and Still H20. This year, we are very excited that Mike Hoops has agreed to brew the best beer of the contest at Town Hall (more details are on the website)!We already have more entries than last years, so we could also use more judges and stewards to help out at the contest. The judging will be onsite at the Minnesota Renaissance Festival on Saturday, August 25 & Sunday, August 26. You get into the Fest for free on the day you help out and we make sure you have plenty of time to enjoy the sights. We welcome judges of all skill levels and will pair inexperienced judges with those who have BJCP rank. Summit Patio Party at Longfellow Grill
Tonight is the Longfellow Grill Summit Patio Party! They’re going for a carnival feel with dunk tank, ring toss, prizes and of course, lots of Summit beer. It runs from 5-9pm. Summit beers include a cask of Saga IPA, Unchained Abbey Ale, EPA and Pilsener.
Netherlands Nights at Pig & Fiddle
Over the next week, the Pig and Fiddle will be celebrating the beers of the Dutch. From August 13-18 they will be offering flights, 3 five ounce pours, of your choice between 7 Dutch beers. They include LaTrappe Wit, LaTrappe Dubbel, LaTrappe Isid’or, LaTrappe Quad, Tilburgs Dutch Brown, Urthel Hop-It and last but not least, Urthel Samaranth Quad. The flights will run you $10, and for every flight you buy you will receive a raffle ticket! Each evening around 8pm they are going to raffle off some cool Dutch Beer Gear including a LaTrappe mirror, flag, t-shirts and maybe even some beer! On the final evening they will be ruffling off items every hour through dinner.
Lagunitas Beer Dinner at Stouts Pub
The left-coast libations from Lagunitas Brewing Company will be liberated at Stouts Pub for their next beer dinner! Join Stouts Pub on Monday, August 13 for a 5 course, 5 brew dinner. The beers being poured are Pils, Lil’ Sumpin’ Wild, Undercover Investigation Shutdown Ale, IPA, and Gnarleywine. Tickets are limited so contact Stouts to reserve a spot!
